Reckless SF-10 cops arrested

SHILLONG: The three drunken SF-10 commandoes who misbehaved with locals and allegedly sexually harassed a woman at Shallang market in West Khasi Hills on Monday have been arrested.
Bijay Chetri, DSP (Headquarters) in West Khasi Hills, said the trio was arrested on Tuesday night.
All of them have been remanded in three-day judicial custody.
Chetri said a case was registered after the headman of Shallang B, Odin D. Sangma, lodged an FIR on Tuesday. An internal inquiry will follow and based on the findings of the report, necessary action will be taken, he added.
However, the Meghalaya Police website says the FIR lodged by Sangma states that four SF-10 personnel – Havaldar Johnas Maring, Jerlin Makri, Eddie Fennal Marwein and Tengrak Momin – were inebriated and created nuisance at Shallang market and threatened the public.
Locals are demanding that the errant cops be suspended. They also want them to apologise to all who were harassed.
Agitated locals had blocked the national highway here on Monday after the incident.
