SHILONG: The KSU, FKJGP and the HNYF have expressed concern over the fact that despite the passing the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2016 last year, the State government was yet to notify the Act.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner on Thursday, former KSU president Daniel Khyriem said, “Despite having passed the Act in September 2016, the State government has till date not notified it and no instructions have been sent to the DC to frame the rules for the functioning of District Task Force which is supposed to tackle influx.”
The pressure groups’ delegation met the DC to seek an update on the progress of the implementation of Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2016.
Khyriem added that the delegation will meet the Ri-Bhoi DC on Friday before deciding on its future course of action.
HNYF president Sadon Blah said the pressure groups will meet all the DCs of the concerned districts before taking up the matter with the State government.
