SHILLONG: The four rebel MDCs of the United Democratic Party (UDP) will send a petition to the party urging it to review its decision to withdraw support to the coalition in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Top UDP leaders, who met on Monday, had a discussion on the MDCs who have defied the central body’s decision to withdraw support to the KHADC coalition.
Later, party general secretary Jemino Mawthoh said the letter is yet to come and “a decision on the matter will have to be taken collectively”.
Last week, the four council members — parliamentary party leader Teinwell Dkhar, Donkupar Sumer, Albinus Lyngdoh and Equator Nongrang – submitted a letter to KHADC chief P.N Syiem reaffirming their allegiance to the coalition.
Mawthoh said the four members would be called at the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting soon.
“We will have to take a collective decision as we are eyeing the 2018 elections and we need to focus on it,” he added.
