Editor,
I had recently highlighted the plight of a friend who could not withdraw her salary for almost 2 months after she was posted in a particular department at Baghmara in South Garo Hills and was later re-transferred to Khasi Hills district. In this age of quick communication, it was truly a surprise that the Treasury Officer Mr Monteng Sangma of South Garo Hills district immediately contacted me on Facebook after reading about the plight of the employee and positively assured that the matter would be sorted out and he resolved it without much inconvenience. This column has a significant impact in putting things right and addressing public issues. For people who regularly stay in touch with your paper this column gives a general view and a gist of what society and its people undergo. I am thankful that your paper provides a platform like this to bring up issues of concern in a positive light and to the Treasury Officer for resolving the matter in a professional manner in his capacity.

Naxal terrorism!
Editor,
The fierce attack by Maoists at Sukma where 25 CRPF personnel were killed is a cause of grave concern. Each time this happens government condemns the Maoists and things get back to square one. The sacrifice of the jawans go in vain. A mere condolence will not help to boost the courage of our brave-hearts. It was a cold blooded murder, where jawans were securing the road being constructed. The attackers used human shield with hand grenades, automatic rifles and rocket launchers with majority of the attackers being women. The deadly assault on CRPF is indeed a cowardly and deplorable act by the Maoists.
Chattisgarh is a hotbed of Naxal violence which has seen a number of such attacks in the past resulting in high casualties. After liberalisation, educated youth are no longer attracted to the Maoist ideology, so now they lure the underprivileged tribal youth and indoctrinate them with the ideology of violence to mislead them by saying that ultras are fighting for the country. That started the radical left wing movement of Srikakulam, Vishakhapatnam simultaneously with Naxalbari uprising in West Bengal in 1967 demanding for a separate state of Telengana. The Government should review its counter- terrorism strategies which integrate the internal and external aspects of security policy to deal with such heinous crimes. There is space left for a dialogue with Maoists. It is high time the Government seriously revisits Left Wing Extremism (LWE) and deal with the terrorists as they deserve. It is an irony that many sympathizers, including politicians, support the Maoists.

The cow as mother!
Editor,
Your esteemed daily has given pride of place to the article “Saffron love for cows under judicial lens. Will Sangha/ BJP’s dietary diktat get setback” by Mr. Amulya Ganguli (ST April 14, 2017) makes for interesting reading. It reflects the mind of a West Bengal Chief Minister Mr Jyoti Basu today urged Prime Minister Mr Rajiv Gandhi to spell out the foreign agencies which were behind the conspiracy to assassinate Indira Gandhi and destablise the country. Replying to a debate on the police budget in the state assembly, Mr. Basu said it was a question not only of the assassination of the Prime Minister but also of the country’s security. The Chief Minister said without the assistance of foreign agencies it had not been possible for a handful people within the country to go for such a dangerous conspiracy. secularist indoctrinated by the pseudo Indian secular parties like the Congress and the rest engaged in appeasing the so called minorities which engaged itself for the past 70 years in idiosyncratic policies and indulged in berating whatever is indigenous and whatever is Hindu or whatever is Indian. There is nothing wrong in eating beef if one is prepared to consume his own mother’s flesh – it is repulsive. It is a taboo and not acceptable in a civilized society. Even cannibals would detest it and so is beef to 80% of the Indian populace. One may call it blind religious belief or whatever but the Hindus refer to cow as Gau Mata i.e. Mother Cow. Therefore the residual population that lives in India must respect the sentiments of their elder brethren – the Hindus. Harping on emotional issues only causes heartburn and friction. Why did USA spend 6 trillion dollars in its race to reach the moon, to land Neil Armstrong on that earth’s satellite? Did it get or discover anything at all? No! It was for national honour and pride. Do we Indians have any pride at all that Amulya Ganguli – presumably a Hindu can write in defense of beef eating without understanding the scientific value of a cow and hurt the emotions and sentiments of 900 million Indians. Non-vegetarianism is unhygienic and is endorsed by even western scientists from the materialistic developed world that we Indians always quote and ape. This was enunciated by great Indian saints, ascetics and rishis much before civilization dawned on earth but we followed Macaulay’s theory in believing that whatever is foreign is better than our own and thus laid the foundation of our slavery for about 850 years. Not only this, we even mortgaged our thoughts, brain and values to these beliefs without making the effort to study the scientific research done by our original thinkers. I am not talking of the literature now published, recommended and available in the market or what is taught in the various “temples’ of education in the garb of modern knowledge. The A – 2 variety of milk produced by the Indian cows like Sahiwal, Gir or Tharparkar is the healthiest type of milk in the world. Mr. Ganguli may ask how so – a cow is a cow. The Indian breed of cows have a hump on the back. This hump is a collector of natural sunrays which are absorbed in the body of the cow and which converts the milk to A – 2 variety. The foreign breeds are not A – 2 milk producing animals and therefore not Mother Cows. The Holstien Fregion, Jersey, Brown Swiss and others produce white liquid called milk but not of the A – 2 quality milk. The greatness of this nation has to be imbibed by studying ancient literatures, original research by our scientists and by doing further research on Hinduism not by aping the West or priding oneself by pretending to be secular and calling Hindus primitive when the world has acknowledged the Hindu philosophy, thoughts and research, it’s rich culture and values being far ahead of what is there in the world. Please stop aping the pseudo implants of communists or western capitalists but propagate Internal Humanism and Hindu Dharma which is compassion not only towards humans, but also animals and plants and not only that also towards ecology, balance of nature in consonance with development, limitation of greed and consideration for all. Vasudeva Katumbakam – We are all children of one God. Sarve Dharma Sambhav – All thoughts (religion) are possible. This is the greatness of Hinduism or Sanatan Dharma only.
