SHILLONG: The MeECL has informed that the companies– Virgo Cement (P) Ltd, Billenium Cement (P) Ltd and Capricorn Stone Product (P) Ltd, are regular consumers of Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) and not ghost consumers.
Earlier, a news report based on reply to RTI query by A’chik Youth Welfare Organisation (AYWO) had said that these three companies had outstanding dues.
AYWO had also claimed that after an inspection it was found that two of the companies, the Billenium Cement at Damas and Capricorn Stone Product at Mendipathar, were ghost companies.
However, in a clarification, the MeECL said that they were not ghost companies and the power supply to Billenium Cement (P) Ltd was disconnected on June 21, 2013 due to nonpayment of dues.
Further, power to Virgo Cement (P) Ltd and Capricorn Stone Product (P) Ltd have been disconnected due to the same reason, the MeECL said.
