TURA: The A’chik Indigenous Justice Initiative Forum (AIJIF), a social organisation in Garo Hills has reacted to the claims made by the BSF with regard to encroachment of local land by people from across the border, in a report published in a local newspaper.
According to the report, the BSF had claimed that there was no chance of outsiders buying land in the State.
“Some land in Garo Hills have been occupied by outsiders for a long time who now claim to own the land by legal purchase. But these sale and purchase have been done on non judicial stamp papers,” it stated.
Rubbishing the claim, the forum said that the sale of land to outsiders was being done in Garo Hills with outsiders occupying even A’king lands in some areas.
