TURA: Danakgre A’king Nokma, Enilla Ch Marak has requested the abolition of ‘Khas Mahal’ from Danakgre A’king by the GHADC pointing out that the term also known as ‘Mauza X’ is an Assam Schedule which does not fall under the constitutional provision of the Sixth Schedule in Garo Hills.
In her letter to the GHADC administrator, copies of which were also given to the West Garo Hills deputy commissioner and the Superintendent of Police, Marak urged the GHADC and the State Government to get her consent and approval for any activity over A’kingland, DC and government offices to insist on documents from the office of the A’king Nokma, toacknowledge that all lands over which pattas are issued falls under the terms and conditions of the patta and to hand over all lands under Mauza X in Tura like Najing Bazar, Dobasipara Bus Stand, Bazar areas and all non tribal populated areas, Allotgre stadium, Chandmary playground etc., to the Nokma Committee headed by Bernard N Marak which she claimed, are all obtained through manipulation.
