Assam DSP arrested for offensive FB post

Guwahati: A Deputy Superintendent of Assam Police, Anjan Bora was arrested on Saturday morning by the CID of Assam Police in connection with an offensive Facebook post made by him alleging that one of the two women MLAs of the ruling BJP in Assam indulged in flesh trade inside Assam state secretariat.
A case under Sections 166/177/506 of the Indian Penal Code and under Sections 66/67 of the Information Technology Act has been registered against the DSP. The accused police official, however, was later released on bail on production in a city court here later in the day. He was interrogated in the CID headquarter before his production before the court.
The DSP was arrested from his Geetanagar residence in the city this morning after a case had been filed the CID against him in connection with the obscene Facebook post.
Anjan Bora, an officer of Assam Police Service, was arrested by the CID after drawing departmental and criminal proceedings against him. Earlier, the BJP had lodged an FIR against him demanding action.
Bora is posted as deputy commandant of an Assam police battalion in central Assam’s Karbi Anglong district. On Facebook, he had written that the woman MLA was into prostitution, “running the business at her office chamber at the State secretariat” in Guwahati.
While being taken into custody by the CID sleuth, the accused DSP shouted at the waiting media persons stating that he stood by what he posted on the facebook about the woman BJP MLA. The State’s director general of police (DGP) Mukesh Sahay said law would take its own course in connection with the case against the DSP as nobody was above law.
