TURA: Two persons, one of whom is a juvenile, have been apprehended for allegedly raping a teenager in a village in East Garo Hills.
Rambong T. Sangma (45) and his 14-year-old accomplice accosted the girl, who is also 14 years old, near Dinamgre village when she was returning home after school on Friday afternoon.
According to the girl’s statement, the duo threatened her against reporting the incident.
However, the girl informed her family about the incident and she was taken to a hospital in Williamnagar. Later a complaint was filed on the same day.
When villagers came to know about the incident on Saturday, they caught the accused and beat them up before handing them over to the police.
While Rambong has been sent to police custody, the juvenile has been forwarded to a home.
