Minister assures to keep national highways in good conditions

Imphal: Manipur Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh on Tuesday said all the national highways will be maintained properly as they are the lifeline of the people. Biswajit had earlier inspected Imphal to Jiribam highway and on Monday inspected the condition of the Mao section of National Highway 2 .
The Minister said filling up of potholes along Tadubi to Maram stretch will be initiated in a day or two if the weather condition allows as the Mao section of the highway is considered the lifeline of the State.
Before the onset of the monsoon work will be taken up along the whole stretch of the highway including construction of drainage systems and culverts he said. This will be followed by four laning of the highway, he added. The Minister said that work on the highway has been assigned to PWD and the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited. It is the priority of the new government to visit all places of the State and reach out to the people and improve their condition, he added. (UNI)
