SHILLONG: The UDP’s Pynursla circle on Monday rubbished claims made by suspended members that the party was heading for a split in the constituency.
In a statement issued to the press on Monday, the UDP Pynursla circle termed the claims made by suspended members- Samuel Khongbuh, Tarni Khonglam, Kimsingh Khongkliam and Overness Masynting, as untrue.
The UDP’s acting secretary in the area, Ryngkat Lyndem, said the members were suspended for anti-party activities and were also issued show cause notices. He added that the suspended members made false allegations against the president of the circle, Banalari Khongwar.
Lyndem claimed that letters have been received from various UDP units extending support to the president.
He added that UDP executive member Emming Khongngai was still with the party and has pledged his support to Khongwar.
