Kohima: With Nagaland scheduled to go to the polls early next year, the apex body of churches – Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has launched its apolitical Clean Election Campaign. “The Clean Election campaign is an apolitical by NBCC, which is neither a political party nor is influenced by any political agenda within or without,” its general secretary Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho said on Wednesday. “The movement is not against or for any political party. It is also not against politicians, not to pull them down or push them up. But a movement to do just what is right and what it is meant to be,” he said. NBCC, he said, is neither against election nor politicians. “We are deeply concerned with the electioneering system that has gone corrupt in our state, seemingly affecting every system of our existence.” The system has now consumed the Nagas making the people ineffective and victims to the evil practices of election. “It has affected every system and it has become like a virus killing us softly,” he said.
