Imphal: Music speaks without boundaries and connects the heart and the mind. “Old cultural tradition is reflected in our Folk and Traditional Music and we should revive it,” said Art and Culture Minister L Jayantakumar Singh attending the 55th Foundation Day Celebration of Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Music College, Palace Compound, here on Saturday. He expressed his desire to take up necessary actions to develop Art and Music of the state.
The minister urged the Musicians and Musicologists of the state to go for further research for the indigenous form of music of the state.
He said it is our responsibility to keep the standard of our form of music high.
Singh said the site of art and culture of Manipur at Gurugram in Haryana will be developed and a team of the Government of Manipur visited the site to take up necessary steps. He appealed the people of Manipur to co-operate with the Government in developing the art of music of the state.
Floral tributes to the founders of the Music College, lighting of the inaugural lamp, presentation of music ensemble by the students of SSBDMC were the main events of the day.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the Manipur Folk Music Competition 2016-17. (UNI)
