Teacher accused of raping teen

TURA: A teacher of a private school at Betasing in South West Garo Hills has been arrested after a teenage girl staying in his house accused him of rape.
The teacher, Soijen Marak, who is from Betasing town of West Garo Hills, had been allegedly sexually assaulting the 14-year-old girl since she came to stay with the couple a few months ago, after she left her parents’ house.
The girl ran away from her home in a village in January and took refuge in the teacher’s house.
But after she was allegedly raped several times, she fled from the house of the teacher on May 2 and went to Ampati police station where she was united with her family.
During a medical examination she revealed her ordeal to the doctor who then alerted the police.
The accused teacher, who went absconding soon after the girl fled from his house, was arrested this week.
