TURA: The under-12 football tournament “Juniors Cup 2017” organised by A’siljong Development Committee, kicked off on Wednesday at Chandmary playground. Altogether, nine teams are participating in the tournament.
In the opening match Athletico Juniors defeated FC Barlarid by 4-0. Arano R. Marak scored four goals to secure win for Athletico Juniors, while in the second match Chandmary FC defeated Lemacia FC by 3-1. Kadil B. Sangma, Gerard A. Sangma and Nangrim M. Sangma scored a goal each for Chandmary FC, while Akgu R. Marak scored for his team Lemacia FC.
The objective of the tournament is to provide platform for youngsters and to learn the spirit of competition.
“The tournament will promote successful group dynamics in pursuit of a common goal, creating sportsmanship value, build strength of character in players and aid them in overall social development”, said Cassius Clay Sangma, Convenor of the tournament.
