Bullet-riddled body of ASI police found

Guwahati: A bullet-ridden body of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Assam police, Karna Longputia, posted at Tinsukia police station, was recovered from his official residence near the police station  on  Tuesday. Police recovered a fired case, suspected to be fired from his service 9mm pistol from the spot.

Senior police officials stated that the actual cause of the death of the official would be ascertained only after the investigation was completed and refused to jump to a conclusion that it was a case of suicide. A case was registered at Tinsukia Police station.

The deceased official is survived by his wife and a 21-year-old daughter.The ASI has been posted in Tinsukia district since 2015. Earlier, he had been posted at Gelapukhuri police outpost in the district before he was shifted to Tinsukia police station.
