The first ever premiere of a Bollywood movie was on Wednesday held in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar.
Sargoshiyan, shot extensively in Kashmir, is the first Bollywood film shot in the troubled state after separatist violence started in 1989 but is not focused on violence or unrest.
Director Imran Khan said at the event that the movie was about unexplored picturesque locations and the fact that Kashmir remains a safe destination for tourists and film makers.
The premiere was held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre on the banks of the Dal Lake.
Lead actors including Imran Khan, Alok Nath, Sara Ali Khan, Tom Altar, Inderneil Sengupta and Hasan Zaidi attended the show. The director thanked the Jammu and Kashmir tourism department and the J&K Bank without whose support he said the movie might not have been made. Sargoshiyan is scheduled for release on May 26. (IANS)
