59 tribal kids saved from conversion, 8 booked

Ratlam, MP, May 23 (UNI) Fifty-nine tribal children ? who were being conveyed from various villages in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua District to Nagpur allegedly for religious conversion ? have been rescued, Government Railway Police (GRP) said.
“Prima facie, investigation revealed that efforts were being made to convert these children. Eight people have been booked in this connection,” said GRP Deputy Superintendent of Police Dhruvraj Singh Chouhan.
The children ? who were brought from various villages to Indore and made to board the Memu Train ? were asked to alight by the Railway Police Force here on Sunday night and handed over to the GRP, which sent them to the Child Helpline. Eight people who were accompanying these children were detained.
A large number of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal workers reached the spot. They alleged that the children were being taken to Nagpur for conversion. UNI
