Guwahati: On completion of first year in the office by the BJP-led coalition government in Assam, chief
minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday promised to continue the `overdrive’ against corruption to ensure full utilization of development funds for the benefit of people and as well as imprive work culture among government servants in the state.
“Benefit of development schemes doesn’t reach the people unless corruption is rooted out from the panchayat level to the top level of the administration. We have gone overdrive against corruption and no one will be spared if found indulged in corruption. Already arrests have been made after investigation was started to recruitment scandal ricking Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), financial irregularities in agriculture, social welfare and police departments in the state,” Sonowal said.
He claimed that there was over 21 % increase in collection of revenue in the state because of measures taken by the BJP-led government to check corruption.
