Assam govt orders probes into fake encounter

Guwahati: Assam governments as well as Assam Police have already ordered two separate probes into the alleged fake encounter that resulted in death of two militants of banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) at Simlaguri under Amguri Police Station of Chirang district of Assam on March 30 last.

Assam government sources informed that the probe had been ordered as per the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) guidelines much before the report submitted by Shillong-based IGP of the CRPF, Rajneesh Rai that two NDFB(S) cadres namely Lukash Narzary alias N Langfa and Eyob Islary alias David were killed in a fake encounter by a team of Assam Police, Army, CRPF and SSB.
The DGP of Assam Police Mukesh Sahay had directed the IGP of Assam Police in Bodoland Territorial Autonomus District Council (BTAD), Anurag Agarwal to conduct an inquiry into the encounter and submit a factual report vide memo No.C.30/2017/14 dated 29th April , 2017.
Assam government had also entrusted the district magistrate of Chirang, Jayanta Sarkar to conduct detailed probe into the encounter killing as per the guidelines of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) vide memo No. CHR/MG/ENQ/21/2017/2-A dated April 4, 2017. Reports of both the inquiries are being awaited.
