Medical camp
Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya Branch along with Hamro Swabhiman (Trust) of Shillong will organise a free medical camp at Gorkha Vidhaya Jyoti Pathsala, Nongsder, Block IV on May 27.
KJP session

Maintenance
The Shillong Electric Crematorium, T.B. Hospital Road, Jhalupara, will remain closed from May 26 to 28 on account of annual maintenance.

The excise staff seized huge quantity of liquor and arrested 26 persons under the Excise Act in April.

Football festival
Grassroots football festival for boys and girls organized by Unified Gorkha Football Club will be held on Cantonment playground, Nongsohphoh, on May 27 and the reporting time is 7 am. The event is open for children between 5-12 years.
Candlelight vigil
Members of Rotary Club of Shillong conducted a candlelight vigil with the motto, “Shine a light to end child slavery and human trafficking.” The event, which coincided with chartered night celebration, was held in front of Hotel Polo Towers in the city to highlight the magnitude and seriousness of the problem affecting the world, particularly the Indo-Nepal border and North Eastern regions.
Marathon
As part of the ongoing programmes to mark the “Quasquicentennial celebration” of KJP Girls Higher Secondary School, the Khasi Jaintia Welfare Association (KJWA) in collaboration with KJP Girl’s Hihger Secondary School will organise a marathon on May 27 for junior (6 – 9 years, 10 – 13 years & 14 – 17 years) and senior (18 years and above) categories. The marathon will start at 6am from KJP Girl’s Higher Secondary School.
Solidarity
The Kalakairaly-Shillong and All India Malayalee Association (AIMA), Meghalaya chapter expressed solidarity with the AIMA headquarters for its demand to bring to book the culprits involved in the killing of Amit Nair at Jaipur on May 17. The Malayalees in Meghalaya demanded that the culprits of the murder or ‘honour killing’ be brought to book.
GNC protest
The Garo National Council (GNC) in Baghmara has decided stage a sit-in protest against the failure of the authorities to repair the NH-62. The GNC has sought permission from the South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner to hold the protest from 10am to 5pm on May 30.
