Ad hoc teachers to get salary

SHILLONG: The state education department has assured the leaders of Joint Action Committee of All Teachers Association of Meghalaya (JACATAM) that it will fulfill pay to teachers teaching in the Adhoc Lower Primary and Upper Primary as well as Hindi teachers in the state from June.
Babu Kular Khongjirem, Publicity Secretary of JACATAM told reporters that he was informed by the Commissioner and Secretary, education department, Donald P. Wahlang that the order has been sent from Wednesday to the office of Directorate of School Education and Literacy (DSEL).
From the DSEL, it will be routed through the Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) to the adhoc schools of all districts.
Khongjirem expressed gratitude to the MUA-II government which has fulfill its demands.
Chief Minister had assured last year the enhancement of salary in adhoc lower and upper primary schools.
Presently, the adhoc lower and upper primary teachers, including head teachers, are earning Rs 6,000, Rs 8,000 and Rs 9,000 (head teacher) respectively. They have demanded to enhance the salary of Hindi teachers from Rs 3,500 to Rs 10,000 a month.
There was a demand from JACATAM for a hundred per cent hike.
