FKJGP Mawlai Circle demands implementation of RTE

SHILLONG: The FKJGP Mawlai Circle has demanded that the state government should implement the Right to Education (RTE) in letter and spirit.
They will also meet the Higher and Technical Education Minister, Roshan Warjri to apprise her of the matter.
In a statement to the press, the organisation questioned the state government on the implementation of RTE in the state.
It stated that the Centre has directed states to implement the RTE Act that gives children from 6 -14 years the right to free and compulsory education.
FKJGP claimed that the right has not been implemented in its true spirit as parents from rural areas have let their children drop out of school due to poverty. “In the last four years, the number of student dropout account to more than 1 lakh,”the statement said.

Meanwhile, the FKJGP Upper Shillong Circle has expressed its gratitude to the Executive Engineer PWD Road, National Highway Division for repairing the bad road condition from Upper Shillong till 7th mile – Lummawbah area.
