Sec 144 in city from 6pm-5am

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner has issued evening-to-dawn prohibitory orders in the wake of miscreants disturbing law and order in the city and other parts of the district.
Prohibition under Section 144 came into effect from Monday and will be from 6pm to 5am every day till further order.
The order prohibits gathering of five or more persons in  one place, possession of lethal weapons, carrying inflammable substances, petrol or diesel in bottles and cans and drinking in public places.
Several cases of petrol bomb attacks were reported from different parts of the city immediately after the KSU’s attack on railway workers in Byrnihat.
In a statement, Deputy Commissioner P.S Dkhar said anti-social activities “may result in disturbance of public tranquility or a riot or any affray within the district”.
