SHILLONG: Former Chairman of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Boston Marak has claimed that a new executive committee would be formed by the end of this month with the support of MDCs from the Congress, GNC and independents.
“We have chalked out a strategy to form the new EC in the council within this month,” Marak told The Shillong Times on Wednesday.
The GHADC plunged into a crisis after its Chief Executive Member Denang Sangma resigned before facing the no-confidence motion brought by the Congress-led opposition.
The sudden passing of the controversial Garo Customary Bill is cited as the reason for the collapse of the NPP-led EC.
Following the crisis, GHADC was put under administrator’s rule.
