Theatre workshop
The Department of English, St Mary’s College will organise a theatre workshop entitled, “The body speaks”, at the college auditorium which will be held from June 13 to 14. The resource person for the workshop will be Lapdiang Syiem (National School of Drama, New Delhi and Commedia School, Copenhagen, Denmark).

National workshop
The research, innovation and publication cell and IQAC of Shillong College organised a seven-day national workshop on Research Methodology. The aim of the workshop, which began on June 7, is to expose the participants to the fundamentals of research, illumine them about different techniques, to inculcate a scientific temper amongst them. The valedictory function of the workshop will be held on June 13.

Office bearers
United Democratic Party (UDP) Lawmali Unit in a meeting at Lawmali Pyllun on May 27 elected office bearers to Lawmali Unit. Leverius Nongrum has been named the president, Danny Majaw the vice president, Ricky Lyngdoh the general secretary and Mangara Nongrum the joint secretary. 32 executive members were also elected.

Jubilee celebrations
The inaugural function of Cherra Teachers’ Training Centre’s sesquicentennial jubilee celebrations will be held on June 15 on the institute’s campus in Sohra at 11am.

Spring-water project
MDC Mawkynrew Constituency Banteidor Lyngdoh inaugurated a spring-water project at Dong Tmoi, Lyngshing village on Saturday. It was sanctioned from the MDC scheme. The MDC also inaugurated the footpath at Dong Nongthymmai at Lyngshing village.

Literary meet
The Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya organised a special literary meet entitled “Inga Thada Mawlynnong” at Mawlynnong on June 11. 20 poets from Meghalaya and Assam attended the meet. The participants wrote poems on the spot on the natural beauty of the village.
