SHILLONG: The Ri-Bhoi Students’ Union (RBSU) has threatened to boycott the 2018 Assembly elections in the State if its demand for establishing a government college in the district is not met before the polls.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, RBSU president Everjoy Nongpluh said, “The demand for setting up a government college in Ri-Bhoi has been pending since 2009. After 25 years of existence, the district is yet to have a government college.” He added that five MLAs– D.D. Lapang (Nongpoh), Celestine Lyngdoh (Umsning), Lamboklang Mylliem (Jirang), Ngaitlang Dhar (Umroi) and Julius Dorphang (Mawhati), have failed to address the issue.
