Naga govt moots rewriting of civic act

KOHIMA: Nagaland Chief Minister Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Thursday said the state government is contemplating to rewrite the Nagaland Municipal Act so that the election to the urban local bodies could be conducted smoothly. Speaking during the laying of foundation stone for the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) building at Kezieke as the chief guest, the chief minister categorically said the Nagaland government alone cannot be exempted or escape from the Municipal Act with women reservation since the 94th Amendment was passed by the Indian Parliament way back in the early 1990s.
