KSU arrests continue in city

SHILLONG/NONGSTOIN: The crackdown on KSU members in the city continued with three more arrests in the last two days.
The city police arrested Allan Khyllait, a KSU member, on Thursday morning for setting a vehicle on fire at Mawiong Rim on Wednesday evening.
The vehicle, a Mahindra auto truck, was partially damaged.
Two more KSU men – identified as Biangbor Paliar (33), president of KSU Mawlai Circle, and John Kyrshan Hashah (34), a member of the same circle – were arrested on Wednesday for throwing a petrol bomb at a heavy vehicle near the FCI warehouse at Mawlai earlier this month.
The city police are keeping a strong vigil on trouble-mongers in the city where Section 144 has been imposed between 6pm and 5am.
A police team at Polo intercepted three KSU members carrying petrol bombs on Thursday evening. A scuffle took place in which a cop was injured.
When contacted, East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said, “There was a scuffle and they (the KSU men) took out a knife and stabbed the police personnel and his hand was badly injured.”
Two KSU members managed to escape and one is in police custody.
With the latest arrests, the number of KSU members in jail has gone up to 15.
Another govt office attacked
Miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the Mairang sub-divisional forest office around 12.15 am on Thursday. However, there was no major damage as the night guard acted fast and informed Mairang police.
Source said the miscreants threw the bomb through a window. An FIR was filed in this regard.
