Robber cuts Smit woman’s finger, ears

SHILLONG: An elderly woman in Smit village was seriously injured after a miscreant cut her finger and ears to rob her of the ornaments when she was alone at home on Wednesday evening. The accused acting as a vendor selling plastic buckets inflicted deep cuts on the woman, Ialinda Warshong (55), who is undergoing treatment in a city hospital.
Police informed that all efforts are being made to identify the culprit.
The police will also call the Rangbah Shnong of the locality and ask him to take measures to prevent such people from entering the village. In addition, the police have set up a temporary check post at Lad Smit.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a group of masked miscreants looted Rs 4.7 lakh from a person identified as Reginial Lyngshiang at Mawkohngoh near Mawkynriew village on Wednesday night.
Police are on the hunt for the culprits.
