SHILLONG: Suspended Congress member and KHADC Chief Executive Member P.N Syiem said he may quit the national party but brushed aside all speculations of his links with the newly formed People’s Democratic Front (PDF).
Speaking to a section of the media on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new council hall on Friday, he said, “I am still a suspended Congress member and not a member of the PDF and I have no comment (to make) in this regard. Let July come and will see.”
Commenting on the rumours that he is a PDF leader, Syiem said, “If I am the leader then I should hold the president’s post. It is headed by Ivanlumlang Marbaniang. I may join other political parties.”
When asked about his preparedness for the Assembly elections early next year, he said “it is the issues plaguing the State that matters the most” and not elections.
“People should understand what the core issues are which need to be taken up in the next election,” he added.
Commenting on the HSPDP-UDP alliance, the KHADC chief said the pre-poll truck should counter the Congress as “the regional alliance will strengthen the regional force and regional mindset”.
