SHILLONG: UDP MDC Donkupar Sumer has slammed the alleged police high-handedness in Ri Bhoi.
While claiming that the police in Ri Bhoi are conducting raids without search warrants, Sumer on Monday demanded the removal of district SP Ramesh Singh.
Ri Bhoi is facing a law and order situation with the KSU and others opposing the ongoing railway project in the district.  “Policemen in civil dress are raiding houses in Umsning, Kyrdem Kulai and Nongpoh among other places without search warrants in the wee hours thus disturbing students preparing for their examinations,” he alleged.
Sumer also alleged that the district SP refused to listen to suggestions from the traditional heads on the matter.
“The government should call the anti-railway organisations for talks to bring solution to the ongoing turmoil,” he added.
