KHADC adopts resolution barring non-tribal participation

SHILLONG: The KHADC adopted a resolution to bar non-tribals from taking part in the Council elections on the first day of the budget session here on Tuesday.
Two other resolutions passed by the House on Day 1 included the appointment of agent/assistant to detect the anomalies in issuance of labour license and re-examination of trading license which have already been issued.
Earlier, moving the resolution on the amendment of Rule 128, which states that any resident of the State can exercise his right to franchise in the district council polls, KHADC CEM PN Syiem admitted that the move was delayed.
“We will take the matter seriously,” he said.
Congress leader Manstudy Nongrem said, “I don’t want resolution but amendment to Rule 128.”
KHNAM MDC Adelbert Nongrum said the CEM should act in the interest of the indigenous community instead of his own interests. “Official resolution should be turned into reality,” he added. Meanwhile, stating that the issuing of labour license should be looked into, the CEM informed of the appointment of agent/assistant to detect anomalies in the issuance of license.
