Guwahati: The ruling BJP has swept the election held to Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council  (KAADC) in Assam by winning 24 seats out of the total 26 seats humiliating the opposition Congress and the Hill State Demand Committee (HSDC) which have failed to win a single seat.
The election to the KAADC comprising hill districts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong and was held on June 17 last and registered a turn-out of over 78 per cent.
The final results were declared on Friday by the State Election Commission here. The BJP which contested the KAADC polls on its own for the first time, stormed into the power in the  hill council by putting up green horns and first timers as poll candidates and defying rebellion within  its ranks led by the outgoing scam –tainted Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the council, Tuliram Ronghang who had joined the BJP along with other elected council members in June  2016 shifting allegiance from Congress that was in power in the council at that time.
He and his men joined the BJP after the saffron party came to power in Assam after the election of 2016.
