SHILLONG: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed an FIR against unknown individuals for spreading communal disharmony by using the name of the party and its members on social media.
The party, in the FIR lodged at Sadar police station, said some individuals have posted a text on Facebook containing serious communal overtone, which has gone viral.
This comes a day after the ANVC-B condemned the communal statement made against Garos on social media allegedly by GHADC member Sofior Rahman.
ANVC-B leader Bernard Marak said the statement uploaded by Abhishek Chetry is a screen shot from a Facebook message stating BJP and NPP are the same and that Garo Hills is not the land of Garos but of Hindus and Muslims.
“What was disturbing was the fact that the person called Garos Chinese and planned to play with the Garos when BJP and NPP come to power.
If this is the hidden agenda of these political parties, it is high time to take a call on that. This is not the first time and till today no action has been taken by the concerned authorities,” he said.
The party said on Friday the comment was made on a fake account of Rahman
Meanwhile, the party in the FIR also said for the past few months, a systematic and vilifying campaign with serious implications is on against the party in different parts of the State.
ANVC-B had asked leaders of the two political to clarify on the statement on Facebook.
In another post on Thursday, Rahman had said he wanted police to probe whether somebody was using a fake account to post these comments.
