CJ lauds company secretaries at 18th national conference

SHILLONG: Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice, Dinesh Maheshwari has said that the Company secretaries in today’s world have become the piloting figures around which corporate companies revolve.
Speaking at the 18th National conference of company secretaries here in the city on Saturday, Maheshwari said that the job of the company secretaries 30-40 years back were more of ministerial jobs as they had to ensure papers works and others but now things have moved on and Indians have surpassed many countries in several professional areas.
He also said that people of the North East are and will continue to contribute in the progress of the country even as he added that the region and its people have great potentials. The Chief Justice also said that constitution of India is not the name of a book for which we all live. The two-day 18th National conference on Enterprising India –Role of Professionals will conclude on Sunday and the event is being attended by company secretaries from across the country.
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India awards the certificate of bestowing the designation of Company Secretary (CS) to a candidate qualifying for the membership of the Institute. It was in 1960 that the Company Law Board started a course in Company Secretaryship leading to the award of Government Diploma in Company Secretaryship.
