Assam universities rank among top private universities

Guwahati, Jun 27 (PTI) Two Guwahati-based universities have been ranked among the top 50 private universities of the country, set up after 2000. Assam down town University (AdtU) ranked 10th and Assam Don Bosco University ranked 25th, based on a survey conducted by the Nielson Company under 11 comprehensive parameters. The survey was published in the recent edition of ‘India Today’ magazine. AdtU Chancellor N N Dutta said, “the university during a short period of seven years has become one of the major institutions of higher education in Northeast India.” The university offers 57 different courses in the field of engineering, management, nursing, allied health, pharmacy and distance education to more than 5000 students from the Northeast region of the country and learners from Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Africa, Dutta said. The Don Bosco University envisages to be a centre of excellence in study and research by focusing on providing easier access to higher education to the under-privileged, the university website said.
