SHILLONG: The Seng Samla Mairangbah will felicitate award-winning actor Sylviana L. Mawlong at Tirot Sing Ecological & Heritage Park, Mairangbah on July 15.
This was informed by Macdonald Nongrang, president of Seng Samla Mairangbah.
15-year-old Mawlong, winner of ‘Best Female Actor-North East 2016’ for her role in the Khasi movie, Dak Bangla dreams to make it big in Bollywood someday.
Her father Bobby Basaiawmoit told reporters that he is proud of his daughter’s achievement and encouraged parents to hone their children’s talents instead of discouraging them.
Meanwhile, Nongrang expressed concern over “the state government’s apathy” towards local filmmakers who are left to fend for themselves despite being faced with various disadvantages.
