‘Aadhaar enrolment should be voluntary’

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Peoples’ Committee on Aadhaar (MPCA) lauded the West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner for stating that “enrolment of Aadhaar is voluntary in nature and not mandatory”.
In a statement issued here, the MPCA said that State had only has only 9% Aadhaar enrolment till May 15. It pointed out that the Supreme Court had also upheld (Contd on P-10)

The group urged the respective deputy commissioners of other districts and different government departments, financial institutions and others not to push for Aadhaar enrolment by coercion.
