Finance dept website launched

SHILLONG: The website of the Finance department, Government of Meghalaya was officially launched by State Chief Secretary, Y. Tsering in the presence of Principal Secretary, Finance Department, R. V. Suchiang, Secretary, Finance Department, Sanjay Goyal, besides others on Wednesday.
The website contains information on the different branches of Finance department along with their functions and duties, e-governance initiatives, forms and annexure required to be submitted to various authorities under the Finance department, Acts and Rules, notification and circulars etc.
The website also offers links to the State Budget, other portals of the State and Central Government, Reserve Bank of India and the Accountant General, Meghalaya.

Puja in memory of RKM president
SHILLONG: In memory of Srimat Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj, president of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Belur Math, who passed away on June 18, a special puja and memorial meeting will be held on June 30 on Ramakrishna Mission, Laitumkhrah premises. The programme will start with special puja, homa and devotional songs at 7:30 a.m.
Memorial meeting will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Vivekananda Auditorium followed by pushpanjali and prasad distribution.

4 injured in Upper Shillong road mishap
SHILLONG: Four persons sustained injuries when two vehicles collided at 6th Mile Upper Shillong around 10.45 am on June 28.
The incident happened when a tourist taxi (ML05 N 5421) travelling towards 7th Mile from Shillong, hit head-on a local taxi (ML05 K 4780 coming from the opposite direction.
Four persons– Donbor Kharkongor (45), Baster Nongbet (26), Kolleat Mylliemumlong (45) and Carelyborn Nongbsap (19), were injured in the incident.
The 108 Ambulance service based at Pomlum PHC helped in shifting all the injured to Shillong Civil Hospital.

Power woes in Ampati village
SHILLONG: The residents of Kumli Gaon in Ampati are facing immense difficulties thanks to the non-functional transformer in the area.
Residents said that the transformer broke down in March and the concerned officials took it for repair on May 1.
Stating that similar problems were faced by villagers in Shipra, Boro Latri, Sulguri and Harahura under South West Garo Hills, the residents said that the matter was taken up with the SDO on several occasions but to no avail.
“The villagers and students are facing enormous problems in their day to day work and studies,” residents said.
