Mission Unite to enroll young voters in Ampati, Jowai

AMPATI/JOWAI: Mission Unite-You ‘N’ I towards Enrolment, a special drive to enroll remaining voters, was recently launched in Ampati (South West Garo Hills) and Jowai (West Jaintia Hills).
It was launched on Friday in Jowai by the district election officer and Saturday in Ampati by DC Cyril Diengdoh.
The Election Commission has launched the special drive in July with an aim to maximise registration of eligible electors with focus on young citizens in the age group of 18-19 years.
Diengdoh expressed concern that the district deficit is 2,161 which is much lower than other districts. The State’s deficit is 1 lakh.
In Jowai, the Mission Unite drive will be conducted in higher secondary schools on the following dates – July 20 at Government Boys and Government Girls, July 21 at St. Mary Mazarrello and Marian Hill, July 24 at KJP Synod and North Liberty, July 25 at Sein Raij School and July 26 at Kiang Nangbah Government College. Besides, it will be conducted at Jowai Polytechnic and ITI Jowai.
