Opp nominee Meira Kumar to address MLAs tomorrow

SHILLONG: Former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar, who is UPA’s candidate for the presidential race, is likely to address MLAs at the Annexe hall of the Assembly on Wednesday.
Sources said the Assembly Secretariat has received a request from the Congress for Kumar, who is arriving in the city o Wednesday, to address all the 60 legislators. The three MPs from the State are also expected to attend the meeting. The address is likely to start at 10.30-11 am on Wednesday.
Both the presidential candidates, Kumar and Ram Nath Kovind, will tour the North East to garner support.
Kovind, who has embarked on a nationwide tour, will visit the North East a day after Kumar. The former governor of Bihar is expected to get huge support from the region after BJP strengthened its foothold in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland while Kumar is likely to get support only in two Congress-ruled states – Meghalaya and Mizoram.
