Agartala: Union Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Faggan Singh Kulaste on Wednesday expressed annoyance over the healthcare system in Tripura and urged the state government to ensure basic minimum health services including diagnosis at village level.
Mr Kulaste came here on Tuesday  on a two-day visit to the state and traveled to Autonomous District Council (ADC) areas in Khowai, Gomati and West Tripura districts. He addressed gathering of tribal people  on Wednesday in ADC headquarter at Khumulwng where he alleged that Left Front government of Tripura didn’t at all work for welfare of the common people.
“It is surprising the state government in its uninterrupted 25-years-long rule could not ensure access to adequate healthcare to the  people even at the state referral hospital and government medical college despite getting huge fund from the Centre,”  he pointed out.
The minister expressed surprised at the statistics of monthly referral cases to private hospitals in and outside the state and observed that the Left Front government  in the name of improvement of health service,  had invested huge money in  building physical infrastructure but there was no improvement in treatment.
“There has been rampant corruption in distribution of dwelling units under PMAY in Tripura across the country. Many have complained directly to me about the ongoing incidents of corruption in implementation of Central government development projects in the state”, Kulaste alleged.
He said, he was confident that people would cast their mandate in favour of the BJP in coming 2018 assembly election for better development at par with rest of the country.
The minister had also visited three booth areas under Ramchandraghat assembly constituency and Baijalbari areas and interacted with the local people.
He said, there were gross malpractices in award of old-age pension, housing benefits, wage employment and other government benefits.
Minister of state for Human Resource Development (HRD) Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey is also  scheduled to visit Tripura  on Wednesday to attend  on party programmes. He will interact with the people regarding education scenario of the state including in the Central university and National Institute of Technology. UNI
