Tripura TMC MLAs supports Kovind, to join BJP soon

Guwahati: All the six TMC MLAs of Tripura who have fallen out with their party high command, came down here on Thursday to announce their support to the NDA’s nominee for presidential poll Ram Nath Kovind .
The TMC MLAs were also present in the meeting of the legislators of the BJP and its allies in Assam, AGP and BPF held with Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind.
One Congress MLA from Tripura, Ratan Lal Nath too flew down to Guwahati to extend support to Kovind.
On behalf of the TMC MLAs, their leader , Sudip Roy Barman said it was a matter of time and mere formality for them to join the BJP.
“We have extended support to the NDA’s Presidential candidate in the best interest of the country and it can be considered as the first step towards our formal merger with the BJP,” Barman said soon after pledging support to Kovind.
Barman made the announcement of support to Kovind on behalf of the six TMC MLAs in the presence of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and BJP-back North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Bishwa Sarma and BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav .
