Jaintia Hills Police detains coal trucks

JOWAI: East Jaintia Hills Police has detained three coal laden trucks from different parts of Sutnga area on Thursday.
 The patrolling teams were conducting regular checkings in the coal mine areas to make sure that no violations to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) ban is being carried out.
 However, the team detected three coal laden trucks, including 10 wheelers bearing registration number NL01Q 8554, driven by Firstmoon Kharbamthiah, AS01C 0062 driven by Md. Yakub Ali and a four-wheel truck ML11-1901 driven by Lodistar Hinge.
 These trucks were detained from Sutnga, Umkyrpong and Moo-pala areas.
 Khliehriat Police have registered a case against the trucks’ owners and the drivers besides seizing the coal.
 Meanwhile, WJH Police also detected another coal laden truck at Lad-Pasyih on Wednesday.
The truck was seized and the driver and a helper indentified as Ferdinand Rymbai of Moodymmai and Nehlang Challam of Ummulong were apprehended.
 Police in Jowai have registered a case against the driver, helper and also the truck owner, Nasim Arzoo of Kamrup Assam and coal owners including Deimi Lyngdoh of Thadmuthlong and Baitki Suiam of Wapung Shnong.
