SHILLONG: The DDU-GKY Cell under the Community and Rural Development Department has organised a one-day workshop on July 5 in the city to outline the mobilisation strategy of candidates for the skill development and placement programme in Meghalaya. P. Sampath Kumar, Commissioner and Secretary, C&RD Department inaugurated the workshop.
The programme also targeted 6411 rural youths under the age of 18 to 35. The youth will be trained in various trades and thereafter, gainful employment will be arranged for them in and outside the State.
The workshop was attended by Project Directors of DRDAs, representatives of Project Implementing Agencies, representative from the Ministry of Rural Development, Project Officers from NIRD&PR, Hyderabad, team members of DDU-GKY Meghalaya members of the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship. The presentations were made on strategies to mobilise candidates for enrolment into the programme, which cover skill development on trades like Health care, Dialysis / Blood bank technician, Front line health worker, BPO, Sewing machine operator, Pharmacy assistant and others.
