JOWAI: A body of a teenage boy was found in West Jaintia Hills on Friday. The 17-year-old allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree near a stream flowing from Dr. Norman Tunnel Hospital to Myntdu River situated behind Thomas Jones Synod College.
The youth is identified as Jemborlang Bhoi of Lapangap village (bordering Karbi-Anglong District).
He left for work on Thursday and did not return back, his mother said. She also informed that Jemborlang was a dendrite addict.
The body was first spotted by some youth of Tpep-pale, who entered the stream which was thickly covered with forest while they were searching for fish baits.
The police retrieved the body and later handed over to his family after the Additional District Magistrate issued an order for post mortem examination.
