Sanbor skips Kovind’s meet for ‘busy schedule’

SHILLONG: NCP president and legislator Sanbor Shullai, on Friday, cited other assignments as the reasons for not attending the meeting of the presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind with MLAs at Umiam, and also the address of UPA nominee Meira Kumar in city on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Monitoring Cum Implementation Committee (MCIC) of South Shillong Constituency said that Shullai could not attend the address by UPA’s presidential nominee in city as he was attending NGT hearing (Eastern Zone Bench) held at Rajarghat New Town at Kolkata.
Though on Thursday, Shullai said that he would attend the meeting of MLAs with the NDA presidential nominee at Umiam, he was not present in the meeting on Friday since he was attending the constituency inspection with members of MCIC in the morning regarding renovation, repairing of PWD roads and drains, and thereafter, a meeting of the RLSSCO in the office of the RLSSCO at Bishnupur regarding preparation for the felicitation programme of ‘14th Meritorious Award for Students 2017’.
The statement further said that thereafter, he attend a meeting held at his residential office with the members of the Lumparing Sports Club and members of the Laban Sports Club regarding the ongoing Shillong League Football Tournament organised by the Shillong Sports Association and another meeting with the members of the Greater Laban Community Development Society regarding preparation for felicitation of the pass-out trainees of ‘Shubham Skill Development Centre’, Rilbong.
According to the statement, he later attended his office at Main Secretariat in the evening and lastly held a meeting with Director of Urban Affairs.
