NONGSTOIN: The West Khasi Hills unit of the Khasi Students Union is planning a black flag protest against Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Monday when he will inaugurate Mawshynrut civil sub-division.
Sources said the pressure group will not oppose the inauguration of the civil sub division but will vent their ire against the arrest of KSU members in connection with the railway project, police high-handedness and the way the Government is handling the matter.
The union here said it would continue to fight till the arrested KSU members are released and the Government scraps the railway project in Ri Bhoi.
The civil sub-division will be inaugurated around 12.30 pm. Mashynrut is among the four sub-divisions that the State Government promised in the last budget session.
Sangma was criticised for the delay in inaugurating the civil sub division and local NGOs accused him of making false promises.
