SHILLONG: The State recently made a presentation on Meghalaya’s potential in the aviation industry before the Civil Aviation Ministry.
A senior official said the State that was represented by Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Transport Shreeranjan made a presentation on better regional connectivity.
The Centre liked the concept note of the State Government and it has asked Meghalaya to have consultations with airlines. Representatives from major airlines operating within and outside the country were present at the meeting.
Talks were also held on how to improve regional and national connectivity in Meghalaya since the State has huge potential as far as air connectivity is concerned.
A report last week said the State Government would approach the Ministry of Civil Aviation to finalise the flights from Umroi Airport as part of the UDAN, a regional air connectivity scheme.
